Gorillas!

I love to integrate science with language arts so that students are learning about animals while they read and write.  I had a feeling they'd be pretty excited to learn about all of the cool things gorillas can do.

We highlighted gorilla facts from Koko's Kids' Club and made a list of the most interesting.  Then we drew a picture of a gorilla and wrote about what we learned.

They only had to copy the sentence for the facts they found the most interesting. In case you were wondering why the spelling was so spot-on!  They thought it was AMAZING that a gorilla can read, draw, use sign language and play on a computer!  Koko is pretty special....

  1. Is this the same Koko from the book, Koko's Kitten?? Even if you're not a cat fan, Koko's Kitten is the best. :)
