If You Give a Moose a Muffin...

I just love Laura Numeroff.  Her circular tales always get lots of laughs from the little ones. (Maybe because they can relate to always needing something else! Haha.)  Anyway, with our focus on the letter "Mm" this week, it was the perfect time to read If You Give a Moose a Muffin.  After reading the story, we fed our moose some muffins that had pictures of objects starting with the /m/ sound.  Muffins that started with other sounds, like /b/ for bird or /d/ for dog, were glued on the back.

In math we continued working on counting objects for a given numeral; this time we used 'chocolate chips' on our muffin mats!  You can easily differentiate the difficulty of this assignment by writing larger or smaller numerals.  Students count the correct amount of chocolate chips and circle the muffin that has *more.*

...And in other news, can you BELIEVE it's almost Halloween? Where has the time gone? For a quick Brain Break (a short burst of activity to get students refocused and energized), we've been watching and dancing along with this video to help get in the spirit:
